Following cataract surgery, a cloudy membrane forms behind the intraocular lens (called posterior capsular opacity). This can interfere with vision again sometime after cataract surgery and cause blurry vision. Post-cataract treatment (YAG laser capsulotomy) can be performed to make an opening in the cloudy membrane behind the intraocular lens. This results in improvement of vision. Dr Park will instil a couple of local anaesthetic drops into your eye to numb the eye. He will then place a special contact lens on the eye and use a special laser to perform the procedure. The YAG laser capsulotomy will take few minutes to perform. Sometimes floaters can be seen following YAG laser capsulotomy, but they will settle in few days’ time. YAG laser capsulotomy is a safe procedure with minimal side effects. Please make an appointment with Dr Park if you wish to discuss the procedure with him.
